INTERVIEW Christy Quilliam

As Duane Evans Jr. is now back ‘front-of-frame’ across cinema and tv screens globally, we thought it time to re-share an interview with him from our first issue TIMELESS. The young man who emerged from shows like Sweet Tooth, Duckrockers, and movie The Convert, to playing Rotxo in Avatar : The Way of Water, now reprises that role in Avatar : Fire and Ash and features in the Starz vehicle Spartacus : House of Ashur as Dacus.
As audiences prepare to encounter Duane in these roles, it feels fitting to reintroduce the interview that helped define the essence of It’s Interval – where talent is viewed not in singular moments, but through the shifting lens of time.

In our debut issue Timeless, Duane shared insights that captured the spirit of what our platform stands for: cultural integrity, emerging leadership, and the value of shaping one’s own narrative. The accompanying men’s beauty story framed a new archetype of talent — purposeful, understated, and deeply connected to legacy.

Revisiting that interview now, with the momentum of these major productions behind him, offers us all meaningful perspective on the trajectory of a modern actor whose work spans local identity and global reach.

As Duane’s career continues to expand, his story remains a powerful example of where grounded ambition can lead. It’s a conversation worth returning to!
