Julian Dennison, the charismatic and wildly talented actor from New Zealand who first captured hearts with his breakout roles in Hunt for the Wilderpeople and Deadpool 2, is now in the midst of the next chapter of his journey. While navigating the shift from child actor to adult performer is never easy, as always, he carries with him that signature sense of humour and an enlightened maturity he’s developed across the early years of his career. Julian – having literally grown up in the industry and public eye – exemplifies many of the noble character traits we hope to find in those so renowned for their personal achievements, and as with his attitude to life itself and the work that must be committed in the seeking out of his ‘next’ role, he continues to engage every aspect of himself fully and with humility.

Making an impact felt way beyond the screen, Julian is using his success and visibilty to support various forms of charitable work focused on youth from less advantaged backgrounds, especially within Pasifika and Māori communities. He is passionate about ‘giving back’ and creating pathways for others, and is constantly proving that for him success isn’t just about the spotlight, it’s also about lifting others up along the way.

I’ve been thinking a lot about what my purpose is; what my calling is to this world, and what does that look like and who does that affect – in 50 years when I can look back and be like, ‘Okay, what did I leave behind? What’s something that is bigger than myself?’

Am I more than just an actor? Am I more than just someone pretending to be someone else, and that’s my job? I think what inspires me most is my search for that.
