Having spent most of her early writing days in her bedroom alone, it wasn’t until working with a band and performing that May-a understood the far-reaching implications that her lyrics could have – the realisation that perception and context would affect not only her listeners, but also those she was singing about. We caught up with the Aussie singer/songwriter in her home town before she jetted off to L.A to wrap up her highly anticipated debut album.


GIVING everything as a singer/songwriter can be exhausting when you’re trying to record and find what you want to say. I’m definitely focused on trying to be more of a reflection of the world around me. MAY-A
